We keep in mind that the BER is the Irish implementation of the European Performance Building directive, and that all EU Members states have developed their own energy audit models. We have an ongoing process of communication with other european assessors and share with them our experience. We have prepared a map of Europe where you can see what the BER equivalents look like.

GREEN ARCHITECTS AND ENERGY AUDIT MODELS

For Green Architects, the BER, as an Energy Audit model in Ireland has become a planning tool .But other models, such as the Passive House Planning Package from Germany are also used at sketch design and planning stage.

Green Architects rely on them to calculate the predicted energy consumption of the building they are designing.

RED TO GREEN AND THE BER

The colours of the BER go from Red to Green. It is our aim To turn your home from red energy inefficient dwelling to a more passive state that is more ecological and will save you considerable money.

We provide the standard BER, with quality control of the highest standards, but we also encourage and support anybody wanting to improve the energy performance of their home.

From Green Architects to landlords or tenants, everybody can help reduce our energy consumption. It can be as simple as upgrading a regular light bulb to an eco-light bulb, or turning down a thermostat, or, major work such as insulating the building from the exterior.

We can advise you on any of these methods to reduce your energy consumption.
